Boston Latino International Film Festival
Boston Latino International Film Festival A Project of Filmmakers Collaborative
About this film:
The Boston Latino International Film Festival has maintained a core mission for more than a decade: to promote the art of storytelling on film by the diverse voices originating in the Spanish-speaking cultures of the Americas and beyond. To continue advancing that mission, BLIFF is expanding the scope of its activity, expanding its outreach to new audiences, and expanding the number of its partner organizations.
BLIFF's expanded scope includes adding new categories of storytelling to future festival submission opportunities, especially digital media and multimedia submissions. To reach new audiences, BLIFF is exploring partnerships with organizations outside the greater Boston region, and planning for a year-round schedule of activities.
BLIFF is continually seeking opportunities to bring the festival's diverse voices and storytellers to partner organizations within the greater Boston region, organizations that will be enriched by experiencing Latin American and Spanish-language-themed stories and storytellers.
The Boston Latino International Film Festival was founded as Boston's first film festival and educational organization devoted to the Spanish-speaking cultures of North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. Since the first festival in 2000, more than 500 films have been screened and adjudicated by BLIFF. The festival has expanded its international scope over the years, and now attracts filmmakers and submissions from more than 20 countries, including Spain and other non-American Spanish-speaking countries.
BLIFF is one of a handful of organizations in greater Boston with more than a decade of activity supporting the art of filmmaking and the role of film in culture and society. Over the past decade, BLIFF has partnered with the Roxbury Film Festival, the Boston Jewish Film Festival, the Independent Film Festival of Boston, and the Boston LGBT Film Festival, among others.
BLIFF has enjoyed exceptional support from the Boston arts community. BLIFF also has maintained long-term partnerships with the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University, and with Northeastern University, which have served as venues and as program partners for BLIFF.
